Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, 21st October 2026 – The Executive Director of the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF), Mr. Olivier Pognon, as the Depositary of the Agreement for the Establishment of the ALSF, is pleased to announce that the Republic of Seychelles officially deposited its Instrument of Accession on 21 October 2026. This deposit constitutes the final step towards the Republic of Seychelles full membership in the ALSF. This important milestone further strengthens cooperation between Seychelles and the ALSF and reflects its confidence in the Facility’s mandate and impact across the continent.
The ALSF enjoys a longstanding relationship with the Republic of Seychelles, having provided legal and technical support to Seychelles for a range of strategic projects. Notably, the ALSF supported Seychelles with the tender process and the issuance of a conditional award to Quadran International for the construction of a 4 MW floating solar photovoltaic plant, helping the country harness its solar potential while addressing its limited availability of land.
Moving forward, the ALSF aims to deepen this relationship, reaffirming its commitment to institutional cooperation and impactful initiatives that contribute to Seychelles’ national objectives. Furthermore, Seychelles’ accession enhances the geographical representativeness of the ALSF, strengthening the Facility’s reach in providing legal advice and building capacity across the continent.
