Building on the signature in August 2025 of the agreements for Mauritania's first renewable energy public-private partnership, a $300 million, 220 MW hybrid power plant integrating solar, wind, and large-scale battery storage, the ALSF continued its advisory support to the Government in the structuring and negotiation of a new transaction of even greater scale.
On 30 June 2026, the Islamic Republic of Mauritania signed a public-private partnership agreement and a gas-to-power conversion agreement with ACWA Power for the development of the N'Diago 230 MW combined cycle gas-fired power plant, the country's first large-scale gas independent power project (IPP). ALSF’s support comprised legal, financial, and technical advisory assistance to the Government during the negotiation of the above agreements. The project will leverage domestic natural gas from the Grand Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) field, strengthening national energy security and laying the foundation for sustainable long-term economic development.
These two successive milestones reflect the Government of Mauritania's vision and determination to build a modern, diversified, and resilient energy sector, and the ALSF's sustained commitment to accompanying African governments in this journey.
